About Ground Up
Ground Up is led by Push, who has more than 20 years of hands-on waterproofing experience. He grew up around the trade, learning from his father, who spent close to 40 years in the waterproofing industry. That background shapes how the team works today: understand how the building behaves, find where the water problem really starts, prepare the surface properly and choose the right system for the job. Alongside waterproofing, we also install steel roofing and flashings.

Waterproofing is only as good as the preparation, detailing and installation behind it. Membranes rarely fail in the middle of a flat area. Leaks usually start where the membrane meets something else: a wall junction, an outlet, an edge or a pipe coming through. That is where careful detailing matters most, and it is where we put our attention on every job.
We diagnose before we waterproof. On a repair, that means finding where the water is actually coming from before recommending anything. On new work, it means choosing a system that suits the substrate, the exposure and how the area will be used, then installing it to the manufacturer's specification so the system warranty stands. Licensed Building Practitioner status can be checked by anyone on the LBP public register.

Common questions
Do you work on commercial buildings as well as homes?
Yes. We work on houses, commercial buildings and construction projects throughout the Auckland region, from a single leaking deck to the waterproofing on a new build.
Can you provide a PS3?
Where a project requires one, yes. A PS3 is a producer statement for construction. It confirms the waterproofing was installed in line with the specified system and the project requirements. Tell us at quote stage if your council or builder needs one.
What does the 10-year workmanship warranty cover?
It covers our installation and workmanship: the waterproofing we install, the detailing in our contracted scope and fixing any verified workmanship defects.
It does not cover building or substrate movement, damage or alterations by other trades, changes made after completion without our approval, or product failures that fall under the manufacturer's own warranty.
Which waterproofing systems do you use?
Proven systems from leading manufacturers, including Viking Roofspec, ARDEX, MAPEI and Sika. The right one depends on the substrate, how exposed the area is and how it will be used, so we specify it for each job rather than using one product everywhere.
